Pressure Drop x IMBC - Something Described As Artisan
Well I'm truly saddened that we are down to our last 10 beers from this fantastic calendar and for day 15 we opened up a a 4.2% pale ale from Pressure Drop in conjunction with IMBC (indy man beer con - the festival that sadly wasn't this year) and brewed with experimental HBC 586 hops.

I was chuffed to unwrap a Pressure Drop beer having not had much from them for a while. The can design instantly transported me back to a fantastic Thursday night in September 2019 dragging my poor wife from room to room in Victoria Baths (the old-fashioned changing stalls have been captured in the photo here) splurging tokens like an excitable child at a gaming arcade in the early 90s. Jack and I are definitely targeting IMBC 2021 and for anyone reading who lives in the North-West or fancies a trip that way, I would urge you to get yourself down there!!
To the beer in question, this pale was an entirely adequate Tuesday sipper. There were some nice grassy notes and a general fruit medley vibe with a tiny pinch of spicy bitterness on the finish rounding it out. This would slot amicably into a session and help keep the unit count down but would certainly be difficult to recall the next day, regardless of whether the 'session' got out of hand or stayed remarkably tame.

The thing about livestreaming a craft beer advent calendar is that you end up drinking a lot of beer every day for an entire month. Yes, there is only one beer per day, but who am I fooling? that one beer invariably leads to another one or two and so on and so on until sleep overtakes you and you wake up on the couch in your pants and late for work. At least, that is what I have heard.
That being the case, it is nice to have a bit of a change of pace, and this is what this offering from Cloudwater is for me. This wasn't an overly complex beer, it was just a nice, good-tasting New England Pale Ale of an agreeable ABV that didn't lead to me disgracing myself in front of my family for a change. It is the sort of beer that if it were on tap you'd have a couple and saunter on home and cook yourself a sensible meal, it is not going to lead to you ransacking MacDonald's PoundSaver menu at 2 in the morning.
