Advent Calendar Day 18

Gravity Well – Meteor Strike

This advent calendar keeps throwing up surprises. Gravity Well aren’t a brewery either of us were too familiar with before this, so the question is, will this 8.5% DIPA, hopped with Enigma, Citra and Mosaic deliver the goods and mark Gravity Well out as one to watch out for??

Jack

I’d never had, nor even heard of Gravity Well before today, if I had, it wasn’t consciously or remembered. Meteor Strike is a beer of such astounding quality that it makes me regret that this is my first encounter with this brewery.

This is divine, it is euphoric, it is, as I said during our live drink on Instagram, the Roger Federer of beers. It perhaps isn’t as punchy as it could be in terms of hoppage, but it doesn’t suffer for that. It is balanced, elegant and confident in its use of hops giving juicy fruit and a good whack of bitterness. Don’t know what else to say about this one except, mine’s a pint!

Score – 4.5

I had seen Gravity Well on IG but hadn't had anything of theirs before Day 18 so was really excited to give this a whirl and you know what, I'm sold!!

I'm still not entirely sure what Enigma brings to the party and the irony isn't lost on me but anything with citra and mosaic making up 2 thirds of the hop bill has got a strong chance of being a winner in my eyes. This was a beautifully juicy dame with mango, melon, papaya and pineapple in abundance and some fantastic dank chewy bitterness on the finish to really round it out!!!

I'm not entirely sold that Rog would be a NEIPA, I personally reckon he's more of a saison but either way, this was a perfect beer to sup on whilst enjoying a good waffle!!

Score - 4.25

Well, well Gravity Well, what's say you have a look at us sipping away at this, here.
