Pomona Island - Boogie Chillen'
Our Saturday night was enriched by this 7.1% DDH IPA from Pomona Island brewed with Citra, Idaho 7, Sorachi Ace and Galaxy Hops (and post-video enlivened by the pulsating and head-bob inducing riffs of John Lee Hooker).

I will leave it to Jack to touch on the the love we both have for Pomona's can names and artwork references as I have unequivocal faith that he will verbalise it better than I ever could (no pressure....) but to the beer running amok in the photo, this IPA was everything I hoped for upon unwrapping and more. Delicious waves of pine resin, candied orange, herbal spice, pineapple and a squeeze of puckering grapefruit delivered in a super soft and crushable mouthfeel. Whilst there was no mention of New England, this was a hazy boi of epic proportions. Truly lovely stuff from my local brewers!!

I'm going to have to disappoint Dan here. While I do love their can designs, I would go so far to say they have the best design team in the whole UK craft beer scene, this is neither the time nor the place to wax lyrical about the superb colour palette, the wit and humour of their naming and image choices. No, to do so would detract from all the good things I have to say about Boogie Chillen'. When I saw it was Pomona Island can sliding out of the brown paper sleeve, I couldn't have been happier. 2020 has shown me that this brewery have serious chops, Ken Lee, Day Bow Bow, Mr Experience, And That's Why I don't Like Cricket rank among my favourite beers of the year and Boogie Chillen' just got added to that list. This is an IPA at the top of the game, a boatload of resin and bitter orange counterbalanced by zippy citrus, not much more to say than this beer made me happy, very happy.
