Advent Calendar Day 6

Desert in a Can (Peach Cobbler) - Amundsen

#StoutSunday, am I right? We both had a feeling we were going to be getting a stout on Day 6. This Peach Cobbler flavoured double pastry imperial stout comes in at a whacking 10.5% ABV, but does it live up to the hype?

Jack

This is the first day that I have called it right, don't know why but I was sure it was going to be an Amundesen. The Dessert in a Can series have been getting major plaudits across the scene lately. Its not surprising really, who doesn't like the idea of fusing together a majorly chubby stout with some of the world's favourite desserts? I mean, if any style can take whacky flavours, its got to be impy stouts. Typically I am drawn to coffee, chili, chocolate and vanilla adjuncts to stouts, but I was super excited to give this a whirl. Unfortunately I don't think it quite lived up to the hype, but it was a nice sipper to go at while Dan and I shot the breeze. Initially I thought this tasted like a shot of Archers peach schnapps dropped into an export Guinness, which I was not disposed to speak highly of, however, as I got further into the can, the more it grew on me and developed into a tasty little stout. I will be trying more from this series in the future.

When I saw what day 6 had in store for us, and after the initial chagrin of Jack levelling up the scores with his excellent guesswork, I was pumped to have a can of Amundsen's DiC series and to be partaking in a stout sunday #drinksync with my bovice. I had already seen reviews and had a general idea that 'Peach Cobbler' wasn't going to be my favourite Amundsen offering (after all how bloody good is Zygoat?!) and my suspicions were affirmed. It wasn't bad by any stretch but just a little thin and not the most flavourful stout. Peach based desserts don't get my juices flowing anyway and similarly, whilst hard to eloquently explain (as the video shows) I just don't think textural desserts such as crumble translate all too well into liquid form.

Score 3.75
