Deya - Into the Haze
Starting with a bang, we had 'Into the Haze' a 6.2% Citra and Simcoe hopped New England IPA from Deya Brewing (pictured with old can design).

Well this is certainly the kind of thing I was hoping for to kick off 25 days of lovingly wrapped beers from the Leeds based retailer. This beer packed bright and juicy stone fruit flavours with a mild carbonation delivering serious drinkability. The signature Deya 500ml can was a giveaway as to what lurked beneath and there was no disappointment in the reveal. The month started on a Tuesday and this beer was a perfect mid-week sipper with some nice fruity flavours and a medium-light body offering a real thirst-quenching drop of hops.

This is one of DEYA's staples that I had not got around to trying, but had certainly wanted to for some time. It was a massive surprise to peel back the brown paper and revel this little beauty. Big juicy IPAs have fast become the norm, one would suspect as a result of the quality of exemplars such as Into The Haze. The balance between juicy, stone-fruit flavours, just the right amount of bitterness and a lingering hint of the alcohol proved to be a cracking start to the advent calendar. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come!
