Boxcar - Massless Fields
We cracked this 8.5% ABV Double IPA a little late on Saturday night, day 12 of our journey through the PremierHop advent calendar. Following on from the rather disappointing Tickle Monster debacle of the night before, this one had to be a winner, right?

That's a bit more like it... in fact, that's a lot more like it. I don't recall having anything from Boxcar in the past, but that will change from here on out.
Massless Fields is a DIPA for the ages, the hop bill itself is a who's who of my faves: Citra, Mosaic, Galaxy and Azacca. What we have here is a beautifully balanced blend of bitterness and tropical fruits. In a move toward what I hope will be the trend for 2021, this DIPA doesn't just push fruit to the forefront, it uses the fruity notes to play against the lip-smacking bitterness brought in by the kettle hops. While there were some things I would improve about Massless Fields, generally I think I would go slightly lower on the ABVs to let the hops shine through a bit more this, this was a heck of a brew and as an introduction to a brewer, I don't think you could ask for more.

Like Jack, I'm ashamed to say I hadn't tried anything from Boxcar before but this was a great first dabble. The impressive hop bill was surely led by that CG combo that brought sticky jungle fruits and dank bitterness with Mosaic in the side car offering a hint of earthy spice. Not sure I would pick-up Azacca if I was being waterboarded by it but whatever it brought to the table here, I'm game with. A great intro from this London brewery and another winner from the legends at Premier Hop.
